Reliance Entertainment Singham earns gross Rs.47.50 crore

After an impressive opening, Ajay Devgn starrer action thriller “Singham” generated good business during the weekend as well and grossed Rs.44.2 crore in domestic market and Rs.3.50 crore overseas.

Directed by Rohit Shetty and produced by Reliance Entertainment the film is a remake of Tamil blockbuster “Singham”.

UTV Movies acquires rights for 25 Reliance BIG Entertainment films

UTV Movies, the premier Hindi movie channel from the UTV Network has acquired world telecast rights for 25 Reliance BIG Entertainment films, from which 20 films will be World TV Premieres.

The list of films includes blockbusters such as Rock On, Luck By Chance and Johnny Gaddaar. Other titles include recent films like 13B, Sikandar, Karzzzz, Aag, Marigold, Go, Love Story 2050, Summer 2007, Cash, Khoya Khoya Chand, Say! Salam India, Shiva, Gauri…, Eik Dastak and Black Friday. All these titles will be premiered for the first time on television on UTV Movies.

Rush Hour director ties up with Reliance Big Entertainment

Hollywood filmmaker Brett Ratner, who has made films like Rush Hour and X-Men: The Last Stand, has tied up with Reliances Big Entertainment to bring cinematic material from all over the world to India.

He has now acquired a French graphic novel on behalf of the production house to be made into a film.

Its to be titled Infinity. It will be directed by Sylvain White. I feel the boundaries between Bollywood and world cinema are evaporating. And material with a strong visual appeal will enable Bollywood to go global, Ratner told IANS over phone from Berlin.

Reliance Big Pictures plans to take Bollywood films to US and Malaysia

In a bid to create a larger audience base for Bollywood films, Reliance Big Pictures plans to acquire multiple screens in the US and Malaysia.

The company is keen to tap the 50 million strong Indian diaspora in South Asia. “It would be the first independent circuit for Indian cinema,” company’s chairman Amit Khanna, who is here to market Hrithik Roshan starrer ‘Kites’, said.

Big Pictures also plans to invest $300 million into Indian based film productions till December 2010.

Reliance Big Entertainment invests $10-15 mn in Hollywood projects

Reliance Big Entertainment on Thursday said that it had approved more than 20 Hollywood film projects which are in various stages of script development with an investment of 10 to 15 million dollar.

The projects are part of the development/production financing deals called ‘Creative Partnerships’ signed by Reliance Big Entertainment with leading Hollywood film companies at Cannes Film Festival last year, Reliance Big Entertainment Chairman Amit Khanna said in a statement.

Prominent among the development script include Nicolas Cage’s Saturn Films’ action titled ‘Voodoo Child’ with writer John Collee. Jim Carrey’s JC 23 Entertainment for comedy film ‘O’ Gunn’ with writer Ed Cannistraci and Fred Seton.

Reliance BIG Pictures will market 18 movies at Cannes Film Festival 2009

Big Pictures, the entertainment arm of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, will market 18 new films for international buyers, distributors and media during the upcoming Cannes Film Festival 2009.

While Hrithik Roshan-Barbara Mori starrer Kites, directed by Anurag Basu, will serve as the flagship film of the company, the other films from the Big Pictures basket include various regional language films like Bengali, Marathi, Malayalam and Kannada.
