Reliance GSM mobile offers STV 18

Reliance Communications, the number one network of the country has introduced a special tariff voucher for its GSM for only Rs 18 with lifetime validity and tariff validity of one year.
According to Servesh Mathur, CEO, MP Circle, Reliance Communications, once a customer recharges with STV 18, the call charges for calls made from RTL to RTL (Reliance GSM to Reliance GSM) will be as low as 0.30 p per minute between 6am to 10pm and even lower, at just 0.10p (ten paise) per minute between 10pm to 6 am. Further the calls made to any other network will be charged at Rs 0.60 p (Sixty paise) per minute and for STD it will be Rs 1.20. The STV comes with lifetime validity with a tariff validity of one year.

Reliance Mobile intros Location Based Service-BIGMaps
Continuing its increased focus on VAS, Reliance Mobile, has announced the launch of location based service, BIGMaps on a pan-India basis for its GSM subscribers.
The service which presently is available over SMS, WAP and download medium provides subscribers to search across business, directions, events and movies.

Reliance GSM Mobile launches BIGMaps service
Reliance Mobile announced on Thursday the launch of its maps service on its GSM network, which will allow users to search for directions, events, businesses and movies.
Available on mobile phones through SMS, WAP and downloads, BIGMaps service will offer local search in form of maps, Reliance Communications said in a statement.
The service, which will provide users information on local business, directions to locations, events and movies, will also be provided through internet in the near future, RCom said.

RCom asked to clarify on GSM mobile service launch in J&K without security nod
The Department of Telecom has sought clarification from Reliance Communications as to why the company has started its GSM based mobile services in Jammu and Kashmir without taking clearances from security agencies.
DoT has told the company to comply with the security requirements by demonstrating that its network can be monitored by the intelligence agencies.
According to the conditions specified in the telecom licence, operators are required to set up a network that allows security agencies to snoop around, if required.

Reliance Communications net profit slips 3.3% in fourth-quarter
Reliance Communications Ltd. posted a 3.3% slip in fourth-quarter consolidated net profit on a sharp decline in average revenue per user and promotional offers.
Net profit at the company — India’s second-largest mobile-service provider by subscribers — fell to 14.54 billion rupees (291.4 million) in the January-March quarter from 15.03 billion rupees a year earlier.
Net sales rose 12% to 55.23 billion rupees from 49.48 billion rupees a year earlier, coming in below analysts’ expectations.

Reliance launched Magic @ Re 1 plan in AP
Reliance Communications today introduced a new ”’Magic @ Re 1 plan” in Andhra Pradesh in which the new CDMA subscribers can make local calls at 60 paise per minute and STD calls at Re 1.20 per minute, by paying a rental of just Rs one per day.

Highest Reliance GSM subscribers added in March
Buoyed by the entry of new telecom players and entry of Reliance Communications in the GSM space, the Indian telecom industry clocked the highest subscriber-addition in a month, by adding 15.87 million subscribers in March 2009. According to the latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, (Trai), while the wireless (GSM, CDMA and WLL (Fixed)) segment witnessed addition of 15.64 million users, the wireline segment saw an increase for the first time in two years, by adding 230,000 to its subscriber base.

Reliance Mobile user base increases to 1.11 crore subscribers
Monthly addition in the GSM (global system for mobile communications) subscriber base touched a record 10.84 million in March, despite the economic slowdown. And experts suggest that growth in user numbers would increase even further.
According to TV Ramachandran, director general of the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), the monthly GSM subscriber addition could touch as much as 15 million some time this year.
