RIL gets Rs 2.8 crore grant from US govt for its coal-to-liquid fuel project

India’s top corporate Reliance Industries, led by the country’s richest person Mukesh Ambani, has received a grant of 600,000 dollars (less than Rs 3 crore) for its proposed coal-to-liquid fuel project.

The domestic petrochemicals giant itself is contributing 391,305 dollars (less than Rs 2 crore) to fund the feasibility study for the project, while another US company Headwaters CTL LLC is also putting in 120,000 dollars.

Reliance asks security cover for its Jamnagar Refinery Complex

Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has sought security cover from the government for its refinery complex at Jamnagar, in the wake of the recent terror attacks in Mumbai.

Reliance, whose Jamnagar facility is the largest petrochemical hub in the country, wants the security to be of the same standards as in atomic power installations.

US Congressmen asks to revoke loan to Reliance

A group of US Congressmen have asked the country’s Export-Import Bank to suspend $900 million worth assistance to Reliance Industries, until the Mukesh Ambani-led Indian conglomerate stops business with Iran.

In a statement issued here, Congressman Brad Sherman said that he along with a “bipartisan group of House colleagues” have sent… letter to the Ex-Im president calling on the bank to suspend assistance for RIL, until it agrees to stop selling gasoline to Iran.

“Pawan Kumar Kapil has been appointed as an Additional Director of the company with effect from December 15, 2008,” Reliance Petroleum Ltd said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
