Kokila Ambani wants Dhirubhai Memorial to be a tourist spot

The matriarch of the Ambani family, Kokilaben, today expressed her desire to see the Dhirubhai Hirachand Ambani Memorial (DHAM) appear on the tourist radar in Gujarat.

“Efforts are on to tie up with the Gujarat government to make the memorial a tourist destination,” Kokilaben told mediapersons after dedicating the memorial for public viewing here today.

Kokilaben to open Dhirubai’s memorial for public on Feb 3

Industrial tycoon Dhirubhai Ambani’s memorial in Chorwad town in Gujarat’s Junagadh district will be thrown open to public from February 3 in the presence of family matriarch Kokilaben Ambani, sources said today.

The memorial is the same place where the founder of Reliance Group spent his childhood. A rented section of the bungalow, then called ‘Mangarolwalo Delo’, was the place where he lived.

Family to unite at Chorwad for Dhirubhai Ambani​ memorial

Amid speculation in distant Mumbai that they have buried their difference after six years of estrangement, brothers Mukesh and Anil Ambani​ are set to gather in Chorwad to dedicate a memorial to their late father and founder of India’s most valuable company Reliance Industries Ltd​ in his birthplace.

Mukund Damani, a resident of Chorwad and cousin of Dhirubhai’s widow Kokilaben, likens it to a “second homecoming” for the extended Ambani family, which will visit the nondescript coastal Gujarat town on 27-28 December.

Kokilaben Ambani visits Somnath Mandir

This week it was the turn of India’s highest court to try to end the warring between Mukesh and his younger brother Anil, who between them own the country’s gas industry and are commonly referred to as the richest brothers in the world.

Anil and Mukesh Ambani directed to take mother’s help

The Bombay High Court, while pronouncing the verdict on the gas dispute on Monday, advised the Ambani brothers for the second time to settle their row in consultation with their mother.

An executive with Anil Ambani’s camp said: “In case the Mukesh Ambani group fails to agree with the terms and conditions of the new gas sale agreement, we will request Kokilaben to intervene in the matter, as requested by the court.”

In RIL’s case, an executive with the company said the order is not different from the earlier single-bench judgment, but he also added that the Mukesh Ambani camp will consider approaching the Supreme Court to protect the interests of shareholders.

Dhirubhai Ambani: The Man I Knew

Kokilaben, 75, the Ambani family matriarch, launched her memoirs paying tribute to her legendary husband on Tuesday at a ceremony that saw her two sons, Anil and Mukesh, share a dais after a very long time. The memoirs have been published in English and Gujarati. The English version is titled Dhirubhai Ambani: The Man I Knew, and the Gujarati edition is named Dhirubhai Ambani: Maara Jeevan Sathi.
