RCom’s Rival Company Tata Teleservices launching GSM Service soon

Tata Teleservices would be launching its GSM service shortly. Earlier, its rival company Reliance Communications got into the arena last week. TTSL currently has a subscriber base of 32 million.
According to the reports, the firm has been allocated 4.4 MHz of GSM spectrum in all the telecom service areas or circles in the country except Delhi.
GSM is short for global system for mobile communications, a personal wireless communication standard that runs networks serving over three among India’s four mobile phone customers.

Reliance Communications aiming for 100m mobile users by end of 2009
Reliance Communications Ltd., India’s second-largest mobile services provider by subscribers, expects to have 100 million users by the end of 2009, a senior company executive said Thursday.
“Our target is to have 100 million subscribers by the end of this year, now that we have both CDMA and GSM technologies,” S. P. Shukla, its president of wireless services, told reporters on the sidelines of an industry conference.
Reliance Communications, which mainly operates mobile services under the code-division multiple access, or CDMA, technology, had nearly 74 million subscribers at the end of March.

Reliance Communications net profit slips 3.3% in fourth-quarter
Reliance Communications Ltd. posted a 3.3% slip in fourth-quarter consolidated net profit on a sharp decline in average revenue per user and promotional offers.
Net profit at the company — India’s second-largest mobile-service provider by subscribers — fell to 14.54 billion rupees (291.4 million) in the January-March quarter from 15.03 billion rupees a year earlier.
Net sales rose 12% to 55.23 billion rupees from 49.48 billion rupees a year earlier, coming in below analysts’ expectations.

Reliance Mobile user base increases to 1.11 crore subscribers
Monthly addition in the GSM (global system for mobile communications) subscriber base touched a record 10.84 million in March, despite the economic slowdown. And experts suggest that growth in user numbers would increase even further.
According to TV Ramachandran, director general of the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), the monthly GSM subscriber addition could touch as much as 15 million some time this year.

Reliance Mobile cuts GSM tariffs by nearly 50% for Mumbai
Reliance Mobile has cut its GSM tariffs by nearly 50%. This tariff is applicable on three special First Recharge (FRC) currently being offered by the company in the denomination of Rs 27, Rs 57 and Rs 107. These special FRCs have been launched in Mumbai circle. According to the applicable tariffs of these three FRCs, Reliance Mobile GSM has slashed its local call rates from Rs 1/minute to Rs 0.50/minute.

Reliance Comm orders 25 mn SIM cards to meet demand
