RNRL to be merged with Reliance Power
The Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) has decided to merge Reliance Natural Resources Ltd (RNRL), its gas trading subsidiary, with Reliance Power.
The boards of both the companies will meet on Sunday to consider the proposal. Though R-Power and RNRL spokespersons declined to share any details, the two companies informed of the development to the stock exchanges after close of trading.
Last week, Mukesh Ambani-promoted Reliance Industries (RIL) and RNRL had signed a revised gas sale master agreement (GSMA) pursuant to the Supreme Court’s May 7 judgment, where it had turned down RNRL’s plea for cheap gas from RIL based on a family agreement.

Reliance Power moves SC over Dadri land project
Anil Ambani’s Reliance Power Ltd (RPL) has moved to the Supreme Court challenging the Allahabad High Court’s verdict that had in effect cancelled the acquisition of 2,500 acres of agricultural land for the group’s Rs 25,000-crore gas-based Dadri power plant. The matter is coming up for hearing this week.
RPL (formerly known as Reliance Energy Generation Ltd) in its SLP said that the high court had erred in exercising its discretionary jurisdiction in the petitions filed by the farmers after a delay of four years and the same had put an industrial project of national importance in jeopardy.

Reliance Rosa Power Plant Starts Generating Power
Anil Ambani-controlled Reliance Power commenced generating power at its Rs 6,000-crore Rosa Power Project in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh on Monday, reports suggest.
The coal-based 1,200 Mw project comprises two stages of 600 Mw each. The first stage has been completed nearly four months ahead of the schedule.
When the Rosa Project reaches full steam, it would account for almost 30 per cent of the total thermal power generation in UP, Reliance Power CEO J P Chalasani reportedly said.

Reliance Power Rosa plant project takes off today
One of the four 300 MW-capacity units of a thermal power plant developed by Reliance Power here was commissioned here Monday morning.
The second 300 MW-unit will be commissioned by the end of January, and will be followed by the other two 300 MW-units by March 2012. The 1,200-MW plant at Roja, is located about 175 km from Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow.
In fact, March 2012 would mark the beginning of a new era in the history of Reliance Power as we hope to simultaneously commission two other power projects — a 600-MW plant in Nagpur and a 1,300-MW plant at Sasan in Madhya Pradesh, said Reliance Power chief executive officer J.P. Chalasani.

Reliance Power to announce Q2 results on Oct 27, 2009
Reliance Power Ltd has announced that a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Company will be held on October 27, 2009, inter alia, to consider and approve the unaudited financial results of the Company for the quarter ended September 30, 2009 (Q2).
The stock closed the day at Rs.163.25, up by Rs.0.60 or 0.37%. The stock hit an intraday high of Rs.165.15 and low of Rs.162.50.

Reliance Power receives 6 bid for Dadri power project
Reliance Power’s 8,000 MW gas fired power project at Dadri in Uttar Pradesh has received bids from 6 global and Indian companies for the engineering, procurement and construction contract, even as the project, which is the biggest gas-based plant so far, awaits a Supreme Court decision on gas supplies.
Global majors such as GE, Siemens, Alstom, Mitsubishi, and domestic majors such as Larsen and Toubro and Bharat Heavy Electricals have submitted their bids for the contract, which is estimated at USD 3 billion said people connected with the development. The bids were called on August 7.

Global companies eye Reliance Power mining equipment order
Six global equipment manufacturers —P and H and Caterpillar from the US, Komatsu from Japan, Belaz from Belarus, Uralmash from Russia and Taiyuan Heavy from China — are in the race to secure a contract for supplying large mining equipment to Reliance Power’s Sasan ultra mega power project (UMPP).
The company is expected to finalise the mega order worth over Rs 2,000 crore for mining equipment like draglines, electric shovels, off-highway haul trucks within a fortnight, to kickstart coal mining operations in captive blocks, allotted for the 4,000-mw project, said a source privy to the development.

RPL acquires Jharkhand Integrated Power
Reliance Power Limited (RPL), engaged in the development, construction, and operation of power projects, has acquired Jharkhand Integrated Power Limited (JIPL) from Power Finance Corporation, Ltd. (PFC). All the parties are based in India.
JIPL is a special purpose vehicle formed to implement the Tilaiya Ultra Mega Power Plant project (UMPP), while PFC is a developmental financial institution in the power sector providing financial, technological, and managerial services.
