Kingfisher may use Reliance Infrastructure to import aviation turbine fuel
Cash-strapped private airline Kingfisher is in talks with Reliance Industries to use the oil and gas major’s infrastructure and logistics support to transport imported jet fuel from ports to airports and deliver it to the aircraft, industry sources said.
A group of ministers on Tuesday recommended that airlines should be allowed to directly import aviation turbine fuel (ATF) for their own use, a move that cheers cash-strapped carriers as domestic fuel is costly because of heavy taxation and contributes significantly to their losses.

Reliance Trends to launch 100 stores
Reliance Retail’s fashion apparel arm Reliance Trends is planning to launch more than 100 stores in the country by the end of this fiscal. The company currently operates 75 stores across India. Talking to the media, on the sidelines of Retail Summit in Kolkata, Reliance Trends senior vice president and head, national operations, Akhilesh Prasad said that the company was also planning to open 25 stores in the eastern region by the end of next financial year.

Kokila Ambani wants Dhirubhai Memorial to be a tourist spot
The matriarch of the Ambani family, Kokilaben, today expressed her desire to see the Dhirubhai Hirachand Ambani Memorial (DHAM) appear on the tourist radar in Gujarat.
“Efforts are on to tie up with the Gujarat government to make the memorial a tourist destination,” Kokilaben told mediapersons after dedicating the memorial for public viewing here today.

Reliance textile unit at Naroda faces workers strike
Workers at the country’s largest private sector conglomerate, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), on Thursday went on strike at the company’s textile division at Naroda in Ahmedabad demanding a 60 per cent rise in wages. The company maintained operations at its plant “are continuing peacefully.”

Kokilaben to open Dhirubai’s memorial for public on Feb 3
Industrial tycoon Dhirubhai Ambani’s memorial in Chorwad town in Gujarat’s Junagadh district will be thrown open to public from February 3 in the presence of family matriarch Kokilaben Ambani, sources said today.
The memorial is the same place where the founder of Reliance Group spent his childhood. A rented section of the bungalow, then called ‘Mangarolwalo Delo’, was the place where he lived.

Reliance MediaWorks in expansion mode with South India focus
Reliance MediaWorks, the entertainment arm of the Anil Ambani-led industrial house, is expanding its domestic operations across films, TV commercials and broadcasting through strategic alliances and leveraging existing tie-ups.
The company is particularly looking at south India, where it has recently partnered with VenSat to expand its animation capabilities, as also to create a studio in Chennai, a statement issued Wednesday said.

Mukesh Ambani’s RIL and Anil’s Reliance Power in talks to develop Sohagpur CBM block
Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries and his younger brother Anil’s Reliance Power have held initial talks to jointly develop their adjoining coal-bed methane (CBM) blocks, giving the estranged brothers another opportunity to join forces apart from the potential handshake in the telecom sector.
Executives of RIL and Reliance Power confirmed that the two companies had initiated discussions a few months ago to optimise costs by developing common infrastructure at the contiguous CBM blocks in Madhya Pradesh. But talks were preliminary and so far they have not made significant headway, they said.

Reliance Comms mobile unit head Safawi leaving company
Reliance Communications said the head of its mobile business Syed Safawi is leaving the company after his contract ended, adding it would restructure the business to increase market competitiveness.
Safawi’s contract “has ended in the normal course and … is not being renewed”, Reliance Communications, India’s second-largest mobile phone carrier by subscribers, said in a statement late on Wednesday.
