Dhirubhai Ambani-UAA Life Time Achievement Award : Professor CNR Rao

Professor CNR Rao had qualified for the third Dhirubhai Ambani-UAA Life Time Achievement Award promoted by UDCT Alumni Association (UAA) and Reliance Industries Limited following observance by National Technology Day and International Year of Chemistry at The Institute of Chemical Technology, Matunga. The annual award was founded in the memory of late Dhirubhai Ambani.


Professor GD Yadav, Vice Chancellor, ICT, said, CNR Rao is one of the sharpest minds in the country, possibly the world. His contribution to science, and particularly chemistry, is vast. He has nearly 700 research papers to his name. He is a fitting candidate for this award which is named after India’s greatest entrepreneur.

Professor Rao, the brain behind the evolution of Indian chemical industry, had previously received the renowned Padma Vibhushan award for his outstanding contributions to the chemical science with approximately 50 doctorates, 1,500 research papers and compiling around 40 books. He also established the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) in Bangalore.

Meanwhile, the institute also organized a seminar scheduled for two days in collaboration with eminent scientists and policy makers where Padma Vibhushan Professor MM Sharma, applauded the milestones in the history of the chemical industry.
