Marks and Spencer Reliance makes two senior appointments in India
Marks and Spencer Reliance India Pvt Ltd , a joint venture between UK’s leading retailer Marks and Spencer and India’s Reliance Retail, on Monday announced two senior appointments.
While James Munson will head the company’s retail and marketing division, Maneesh Gaur will head property and projects to drive the store opening programme for the firm, an official statement said.
“India is an important market for Marks and Spencer, its large population and economic growth presents us with our huge opportunity,” Marks and Spencer India CEO Martin Jones said in the statement.
James’ and Maneesh’s keen business acumen and retail expertise will add great value to our business and help support our growth in India, he added.
A retail professional with over 14 years of experience, James joined Marks and Spencer UK in 2006 and has held positions such as Commercial Manager in both foods and general merchandise and Store Manager of the Camberley store, Marks and Spencer’s second largest store in the UK with over 1,000 employees.
Maneesh joins the company after a six year stint with India’s leading retailer Shoppers Stop. Previously, he has held a variety of leadership roles across international retailers and the hospitality industry, the statement said.
Marks and Spencer had set up the joint venture with Reliance Retail in 2008 and currently has 19 stores in India selling apparel, homeware and beauty products.
