3 Idiots pirated DVDs: Big Pictures files FIR

Reliance Big Pictures has filed FIR in Ghaizabad against Galaxy Cinema based in Kaushambi, UP (on the outskirts of Delhi) suspected of aiding to make pirated DVDs of 3 Idiots.

Based on the technical information of ‘cap code marking’ on each print of the film. Apparently the pirated DVD of 3 Idiots were found in Delhi and tracked by Reliance and stopped.

Movie piracy is not a victimless crime. Not only does piracy have a financial impact on Reliance Big Pictures, it negatively impacts jobs of people in the film industry and related businesses. Reliance Life Sciences increases stake in UK arm

Reliance Life Sciences Pvt Ltd, a biotechnology and pharmaceuticals company owned by Reliance Industries Ltdpromoter Mukesh Ambani and his family, has increased its equity holding in its UK-based listed subsidiary Reliance GeneMedix Plc to 79.58% from 74%.

This has been done by converting 34,777,032 warrants issued by GeneMedix Plc in 2007.
Reliance Life acquired GeneMedix, a UK-based biotechnology company listed on the London and Singapore stock exchanges in January 2007, and renamed it Reliance GeneMedix.

As per the terms of the acquisition deal, Reliance Life can raise its shareholding in the UK company up to 86.86%, but it is not known whether there is any time frame for raising the stake.

Reliance Life Insurance new products:Jan Samriddhi Plan and Super InvestAssure Plan

Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group firm Reliance Life Insurance on Tuesday launched two new products -Jan Samriddhi Plan and Super InvestAssure Plan here and aims to garner Rs 600 crore premium from them within this fiscal.

Jan Samriddhi Plan, which is targeted at the rural population, will have premium instalments of Rs 50 per month and will offer guaranteed returns along with accidental cover and maturity benefits.

Available to a group of a minimum 5,000 members, its minimum annualised premium will be Rs 5,000, while maximum limit will be at Rs 10,000.

Reliance files case : Traced pirated DVDs of 3 Idiots

Anil Ambani Group firm Reliance Big Pictures has filed a case against Galaxy Cinema in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh for allegedly making pirated DVDs of its just-released blockbuster 3 Idiots.

The first information report (FIR), filed Thursday, is based on technical information gleaned through the cap code marking anti-piracy technology on each print of the film, a statement from Reliance Big Pictures said Saturday.

It said that the company, a subsidiary of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (R-ADAG), traced the pirated DVDs in the national capital and the activity was stopped soon after.

Reliance Power moves SC over Dadri land project

Anil Ambani’s Reliance Power Ltd (RPL) has moved to the Supreme Court challenging the Allahabad High Court’s verdict that had in effect cancelled the acquisition of 2,500 acres of agricultural land for the group’s Rs 25,000-crore gas-based Dadri power plant. The matter is coming up for hearing this week.

RPL (formerly known as Reliance Energy Generation Ltd) in its SLP said that the high court had erred in exercising its discretionary jurisdiction in the petitions filed by the farmers after a delay of four years and the same had put an industrial project of national importance in jeopardy.

Reliance Retail to open 45 Reliance TimeOut stores by Dec 2014

Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Retail Ltd plans to open a total of 45 stores of its books and music retailing business - Reliance TimeOut - across India over the next three to five years.

The multi-format retailer, which operates seven stores of TimeOut, said it wants to tap India’s Rs 3,500-crore book retailing industry, of which only 40 per cent is organised.

In the next 3-5 years (or December 2014), we will have a total of 45 TimeOut outlets across four states - mainly in western and southern India. Our strategy is to first saturate a town, then a state followed by the entire region, Reliance Retail, Business Head, Reliance TimeOut, Deepinder Kapany told PTI.
