Reliance Mobile Introduces Games On USSD

Reliance Communications India’s 2nd largest Duel technology mobile service operator today initiated a radical move in the Indian telecom industry by launching new concepts on Mobile Gamming. Reliance today announced the launch of Games based on Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) which allows its GSM mobile subscribers to play Games from their mobile phone requiring real-time messaging services.
The USSD feature allows service providers to deploy real-time Messaging which are generally quicker or super fast than normal SMS in terms of the response timings.Initially the operator will launch “Tic Tac Toe” which also commonly known as “Noughts and Crosses” games with this service.

On the launch of this new VAS service, Mr Krishna Durba, Head (VAS), Reliance Communications stated, “The introduction of Games on USSD, we will now be able to provide games to our users on any GSM handset, from the high end to the low end ones. Our product is designed keeping in mind the evolving market dynamics and is in line with our philosophy to offer best-in-class mobile services to our subscribers.”

The USSD based Games service is available for Rs.5 per day or for monthly rental of Rs.30 for unlimited games. To subscribe the service, Reliance Mobile (GSM) customers have to dial *123*212# for a day pack that is costs @ Rs.5/day. Users can also subscribe to the Monthly Pack @ Rs.30 for 30 days and play unlimited games by dialing *123*213#.
