Reliance BIG TV has entered into a tie-up with UTV Productions to showcase Wake Up Sid on its PPV platform. According to the tie-up, UTV Productions has offered Reliance BIG TV the DTH rights for Wake Up Sid for a period of four weeks. The agreement is signed on a revenue sharing basis. Reliance BIG TV will offer Wake Up Sid on its PPV platform from November 20, 2009 onwards. It will offer the movie on a 24-hour PPV access for Rs 100 only.
Commenting on the tie-up and Wake Up Sid showcase Mr. Umesh Rao, Senior Vice-President, Reliance BIG TV said, We’ve signed an agreement with UTV Production to showcase Wake Up Sid on our DTH platform and offer pristine content to our subscribers. We had recently showcased Beyonce Concert on our PPV platform in line to also offer non-film content along with the recent Bollywood releases. Our long term objective is to address all the needs of our subscribers through differentiated content from the globe.
Reliance BIG TV is also in discussions with leading production houses for a major PPV Premiere line-up of new releases. It already has a tie-up with UTV and Percept Picture Company. The tie-up with Bollywood producers and production houses is part of Reliance BIG TV’s plans to create a special PPV property wherein new and recent film releases will be premiered on Reliance BIG TV on a regular basis. These films will be showcased on Reliance BIG TV before they are released on Home Video. This will also offer these producers an additional platform to showcase their films on BIG TV as well as earn substantial revenues.
Wake Up Sid, is the story of Sidharth Mehra (Ranbir Kapoor), a lazy, unmotivated slacker from Mumbai whose life undergoes a series of changes after taking his final year college exams. Sid’s world is breezy, carefree, and without any true responsibilities. The most important elements in his life are his friends, his camera, his car, and his X-box 360. Sid thrives around his two best friends, Rishi (Namit Das) and Laxmi (Shikha Talsania), very rarely communicates with his mother Sarita (Supriya Pathak) and takes his father Ram Mehra (Anupam Kher), and all his hard earned wealth for granted. Despite all these traits, Sid is an honest boy; sweet, funny, and above all, a good friend. Aisha Bannerjee (Konkona Sen Sharma), an aspiring writer from Calcutta, learns this soon enough when her path crosses with Sid’s on her first day in Bombay. Ambitious, well-read, and driven, Aisha has come to Bombay to realize her dreams as a writer. Despite their contrasting personalities, Sid becomes Aisha’s first friend in the city. What follows are a series of circumstances and events compel him to take stock of his life and take a hard look at himself.
