Reliance Communications Launches Free Roaming For GSM Subscribers
In yet another significant initiative that would benefit many million Mobile subscribers in India, Reliance Communications (RCOM) announced the launch of Free Roaming for Reliance GSM subscribers. The Free Incoming call while roaming Plans for Reliance GSM post-paid customers.
This plan gives the facility of Free Incoming calls while on move in National Roaming across India. Dubbed as “My Roaming 450 Plan†comes at rental of Rs.450 per month with 200 Free Local call to any network worth Rs.125 and after Free call usage all local call will be changeable at 50 paisa.

IMAX Corp Signs Theatre Deal With Big Cinemas in India
IMAX Corporation and BIG Cinemas, a division of Adlabs Films Ltd, a Reliance ADA Group company and India’s largest entertainment conglomerate, today announced an agreement to install IMAX’s new digital projection system in BIG Cinemas’ flagship IMAX(R) theatre in the heart of Mumbai. The installation is scheduled to be completed in July 2009, and will mark the first digital IMAX location in India.
The new IMAX digital projection system will replace the IMAX(R) Dome system that is currently operating in the BIG Cinemas location at Wadala, Mumbai. The new technology upgrade is designed to enable BIG Cinemas to take advantage of the growing slate of Hollywood releases in IMAX and IMAX(R) 3D.

Reliance Communications to overhaul pricing model; VAS at Rs.1 a day
The tiny sachet that once helped shampoo makers overcome a price-sensitive market would take on a new avatar that’s likely to change how cellphone companies charge their subscribers.
Reliance Communications Ltd (RCom), the country’s second largest mobile phone services operator, is overhauling its pricing model to offer value-added services (VAS) such as caller tunes, news alerts and Internet surfing for as low as Re1 a day, rather than for a monthly subscription.

RNRL in fray to hire Ratnagiri Gas and Power’s LPG terminal
Anil Ambani firm RNRL has joined the fray to lease Ratnagiri Gas and Power’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal.
Ratnagiri Gas & Power MD AK Ahuja told ET: “Eight companies, including RNRL, have submitted expression of interest (EoI). We will invite bids in a couple of months.†Other contenders include RIL, NTPC, Indian Oil, GMR and Essar Oil. Mr Ahuja said the LNG terminal, which is adjacent to the company’s power plant in Maharashtra, may be leased out to more than one contender.

RNRL may interfere in RIL-NTPC gas supply case
Close on the heels of the Bombay High Court’s gas supply judgement in its favour, Anil Ambani group firm Reliance Natural Resources (RNRL) is all set to intervene in another case related to gas supply between Mukesh Ambani-led RIL and state-run power producer NTPC.
“RNRL will intervene in the RIL-NTPC High Court matter,” a source familiar with the matter said.
Earlier this week, the Bombay High Court asked RIL to honour a 2005 family agreement to supply 28 million cubic meters per day of gas from its Krishna-Godavari basin fields at $2.34 per mmBtu for 17 years to RNRL.

Aaj Tak to provide MMS news alerts to Reliance Prepaid and Postpaid Mobile subscribers
Reliance Mobile has tied up with the Hindi news channel Aaj Tak to provide its subscribers with video news alerts through MMS. The alerts will be provided twice a day on a Rs30 per month subscription.
Reliance Mobile is a wholly owned subsidiary of Anil Dhirubhai Ambani group (ADAG)
The news service can be availed by both pre- and post-paid customers on Reliance’s CDMA and GSM networks.
Earlier this year Reliance had rolled out its CDMA wireless broadband service, Reliance Netconnect Broadband Plus, making it what it claimed the fastest internet service on mobiles.(See: Reliance Communications launches ‘India’s fastest’ net service)

RCom in talks with Alcatel-Lucent for a $500 mn outsourcing deal
India’s second largest mobile operator, Reliance Communications is in advanced with Franco American Alcatel-Lucent for a $500 million outsourcing deal to manage its 70,000 – 80,000 kms of fibre optic cables across the country. Optic fibre cables carry voice and data and connect all mobile towers and landlines operated by the company.
Reliance Communications (RCOM) will also be the first Indian telcoms company to outsource the management of its optic fibre cable business. So far, Indian operators have only outsourced the management of their networks, IT systems, customer care and their value added services platforms
