Dhirubhai Ambani remembered at CHEMCON-2008
The second day of the CHEMCON-2008 fest was commemorated as the 75th birth anniversary of Dhirubhai Ambani. The Governor of Haryana, Dr A R Kidwai was the chief guest on the occasion.
Chairman of the National Organising Committee of CHEMCON-2008, Prof G D Yadav, spoke on the visionary leadership of Ambani under whose guidance “Indian industry rose to colossal heights†and remembered him as an epitome of entrepreneurship.
Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University, Professor R C Sobti highlighted the steps taken by the university to promote alternate sources of energy like using solar heating plants in hostels and canteens.
Director of Strategic Planning in the Department of Atomic Energy and Homi Bhabha National Institute of Atomic Energy, Dr R B Grover, discussed about the energy crisis that India might face if the resources available are not used to its optimum level.
He also briefed the people about the new emerging technologies to produce energy and was awarded the Dhirubhai Oration Award for his contribution in the field of energy.
Senior Vice-President of Reliance Industries Limited, Gopal Jha, said, “Dhirubhai Ambani has inspired courage and commitment among common people to achieve their dreams.â€
Alumni Professor Rajinder Kumar from the IISc, Bangalore, Professor Arvind Verma from Purdue University and Professor S K Sharma from Panjab University and Emeritus were felicitated at the fest.
