Anil Ambani approves Bikram Saluja’s upcoming movie 42 kms

You would think Anil Ambani would have a problem with a film tracing his ‘fat boy’ days, especially now years after he has knocked off the flab and when he has established himself as a professional runner (the recent Marathon saw him leading the pack), but the business tycoon seems to be extremely secure with himself. No wonder then, he hasn’t made any effort to stop the release of the film 42 kms.

Ambani has given the film-makers a go-ahead over e-mail. This is what he wrote to the producer of the movie, Vicky Tejwani, in an e-mail when he was informed that there is a character in the movie based on him. “Hi Vicky, I don’t mind…Thanks a lot. I won’t be able to attend the premiere due to prior commitments. I wish the best for the film. Regards, Anil.”

“We told Anil Ambani via email that our film will replicate his younger days, when he used to be overweight. Instead of stopping us from filming those scenes, he wished us all the best,” says director Nisha Chainani.

She got to know about Anil’s weight problem when she was part of a group called the Hash Run six years ago. “I heard how the taunts about his weight drove him to take up physical exercise and ultimately prompted him to take part in the Boston Marathon in 2003,” she says.

The film, which releases on January 23, has Bikram Saluja reprising the role of Anil.
